Dynamos looking for better performance

Invicta Dynamos head coach Kevin Parrish has promised a much better performance from his side this weekend at home to the Wightlink Raiders.

Last weekend the Dynamos were comfortably beaten 6-3 by the Cardiff NIHL Devils at the Silver Blades Ice Bowl in Gillingham, handing the home side their first league defeat of the new season, but crucially making it three defeats from five games in all competitions.

Speaking exclusively to KSN, Parrish stated how his side were hurting after the defeat:

“It wasn’t the result we wanted. We have to win out home games and I keep saying we need to turn this place into a fortress.”

“The way Cardiff celebrated at the end, it was as though they had won the league, but that’s what it means to teams to come here and do that.”

“I can’t remember Cardiff having come here and won in the past four or five years as we have always turned them over, but they came here and put us under pressure and we couldn’t cope with it.”

“We tried to be physical as we knew they’d be physical, but we need to be stronger minded where we are going to take these penalties.”

Brad Watchorn piced up a match penalty after his altercation with Robert Sedlak in the second period and the Dynamos boss went on to explain how his side will need to be more disciplined in the future:

“We have got to be a lot better at what we do on the ice. We need to make sure we know where we are going to take penalties and not give them away for silly things.”

“What’s really frustrating is how we were really good in practice and then didn’t take that into the game.”

“If changes need to be made, then changes will be made, but I didn’t think we would be saying that after just five games into the new season.”

Parrish revealed things would have to change for his side if they were to be considered title chasers come the end of the season:

“We can’t be giving away six goals at home and at the most it should be two. Our forwards also need to be putting the puck into the net too as they have neen missing the net by a lot.”

“That’s got to change too, but we need to stay positive and I don’t want to be too downbeat as everyone knows why we are going wrong. We don’t need to look at the problems too much, we need to find solutions to the problems.”

“We wanted our winning song to be played every week, whether we are home or away, whether it is in the cup or in the league. We want to get that winning mentality back and I’m sure we’ll get it.”

“We owe it to ourselves and we owe it to the fans to get it right. For the first time since I have been here, we had some boos at the end of the game. That’s not a nice feeling and I don’t want to hear that again.”

The Dynamos will welcome the Wightlink Raiders to the Silver Blades Ice Bowl for this Sunday’s South East Trophy game and Parrish is keen to get back to winning ways:

“We need to go out there and put in a good shift and get a win under our belts as that could put us on a roll.”

“We’ve got to make sure we do things right and show what we are capable of as a side as we’ve got a talented squad and now we need to prove it.”

Once again Callum Fowler will miss the game through work commitments, whilst there was better news for Parrish this week with Joe Bliss set to return to the squad after a holiday.

Face off at the Silver Blades Ice Bowl is 5:15pm on Sunday evening. For more information, visit www.invictadynamos.co.uk
